Retirement planning

A paycheque that survives the market it retires into.

Accumulation is one problem. Turning a balance into 30 years of income, after tax, is a different one. We work on the second.

Tax diversification

Three tax treatments, not three accounts

Which bucket you draw from in a given year is often worth more than which fund you picked.

01

Taxable

Brokerage and cash. Flexible, capital-gains treatment, useful for bridging years before Social Security.

02

Tax-deferred

401(k), 403(b), traditional IRA. Deduction now, ordinary income later, and required minimum distributions from age 73.

03

Tax-free

Roth accounts and, in specific cases, properly structured life insurance loans. No RMDs on Roth IRAs.

Risks we plan around

The four that actually break plans

Sequence of returns

A poor first five years of retirement does more damage than the same loss ten years in, because withdrawals lock it in. Guaranteed income for fixed costs blunts it.

Longevity

Plan to 95, not to life expectancy. Half of people outlive the average, and running out at 90 has no remedy.

Tax-rate risk

A fully tax-deferred portfolio is a bet that your future bracket is lower. Diversifying tax treatment hedges it.

Health and long-term care

An extended-care event is the most common plan-breaker. Chronic-illness riders and hybrid policies are one way to fund it.

Scope

What we do — and what we don't

  • Income sequencing and withdrawal order
  • Social Security claiming timing analysis
  • Insurance and annuity design to cover fixed costs
  • Beneficiary and policy-ownership review
  • We are an insurance broker, not a registered investment adviser — we do not manage portfolios or sell securities
  • We do not prepare tax returns or draft legal documents; we work alongside your CPA and attorney

Bring your statements. We'll show you the gaps.

A first review takes about an hour and costs nothing. You leave with the numbers whether or not you become a client.
